The Whitby Abby series was produced as part of an archeological survey of the complete standing structure.
Paul was commissioned by the archeologist (Steve Coll) to record precisely various architectural fragments of note in the Abbey, the images were drawn on site and are the exact size to the original medieval carvings.
Some of the images will be available very soon as prints and postcards.
The magnificent ruins of Whitby Abbey, Yorkshire, are set on a headland that projects into the North Sea, and they dominate the town below — a town that Bram Stoker knew well and used as a backdrop for parts of his famous Gothic novel, Dracula. |
